The timeline below is taken from page 10 of the Preliminary Plan for the
new high school as it appeared on the Board's web site
as of August 27, 2004. Link to the PDF file directly here.
Imagine a plan that:
- has already requested funding from voters on a 6/14/04 ballot
without officially telling them where the school will be or how the site
will change (many voters voted for a school only later to be
surprised by the wrong-headed site the District had in mind)
- still has no independent traffic study done (only the
traffic study done by the Administration's own contractor will be accepted,
even though it does not reflect reality and ignores safety issues)
- still does not have a detailed environmental impact study done
- still does not have an archaeological study done
- still has site plans changing day by day
- will not have
a site design finalized and a budget confirmed until 1/12/05
Without these things in place, the Board and the AAPS continues
to ignore public input precisely because it is driven by an imagined deadline
rather than by proceeding responsibly.
