The Trouble with Keeping a Bond Coordinator A second Bond Coordinator in as many years has resigned. Julianne Chard is gone. The Ann Arbor News reported this in their October 15, 2006 editorial entitled Incredible that schools ask for more money / Ann Arbor board unfit to manage funds. No wonder, after presiding over the fiasco that is the AAPS new high school construction project. The original Bond Project Coordinator hired by the School District was Laura Hagan. Soon after a September, 2004 walk on the new high school site, where she got to see first hand the environmental quality and diversity of the site. Others on the walk could see the look in her eyes. Soon after that, she decided to step down from the position. Peter Ways, who seems to have his hand in many aspects of the running of the school district, was chosen as interim Bond Project Coordinator. It seemed like he was a shoe-in for a permanent position. The latest Bond Project Coordinator is Julianne Chard. She has appeared at Board meetings and City Council meetings as rather defensive and leaves most of the talking to the Jack Baker and the Granger contingent. Perhaps she will start to feel the heat as the cost overruns mount. |
