In November, 2005, information
was requested from the AAPS administration concerning the administration's
projections of the operations and
maintenance (O&M)
budget in light of the New High School. After nearly 3 months
of stone-walling (and
even a letter containing a thinly-veiled threat from the district's lawyers),
the Freedom of Information Act was used to get the data. (Read
the history of the request and stonewalling.)
Here are just some of the remarkable emails and other documents (click
the blue text to read). Especially note the highlighted
portions.
This table shows the reasons for the emails as well: B=manipulate
the perception of the Board of Education; P=manipulate
that of the public; N=manipulate the
Ann Arbor News and WAAM; C=involvement of a contractor
who has not even been awarded a contract yet; Q=ignoring
questions about validity of projections
